If you find that PayPal is charging your Curve card in the wrong currency, don’t worry! You can change your payment options in PayPal to always pay for a transaction in the currency that the vendor is selling in.
So, if you’re using your Curve card with a EUR card selected as your underlying payment card, and you’re making a EUR transaction, PayPal will charge you in EUR.
You can set this option by contacting PayPal here.
Until you do this, you’ll have to complete these extra steps* at the PayPal checkout every time you make a purchase with your Curve card:
- Select your Curve card in the list of your payment options.
- Select ‘See currency options’.
- Move the currency slider from GBP (or USD with certain Curve cards) to select the original transaction currency.
You’ll then be charged in the original transaction currency.
Please bear in mind that if you don’t follow either of these steps, PayPal will perform a currency conversion and you may be subject to an inferior conversion rate, or extra fees.
